A New York Metropolis police officer who was recorded on video slapping a person and brandishing a Taser over the weekend was positioned on modified responsibility, Mayor Invoice de Blasio stated Sunday.

The video, which drew outrage from native officers, was captured Saturday after officers tried to disperse a bunch of individuals violating social distancing guidelines, authorities stated.

The New York Police Division stated in a press release that police have been attempting to arrest somebody within the group after recognizing a bag of marijuana when one other individual “took a preventing” stance in opposition to one of many officers.
