LONDON (Reuters) – Britain expects america to proceed its custom of defending media freedoms, overseas minister Dominic Raab stated on Thursday when requested about protests sparked by the loss of life of George Floyd.
Whereas the demonstrations have been largely peaceable, police in some cities have used pressure in opposition to journalists and protesters, and protesters have clashed with police.
Requested throughout an interview on Sky Information whether or not he condemned police violence in america, Raab stated: “Anybody that noticed the footage of the therapy of George Floyd would have been moved and distressed as I used to be, and I believe seeing the protests and the violence may be very distressing.
“I need to see America come collectively … you point out media freedoms and journalistic freedoms, in fact the U.S. has a positive custom of defending all of these issues and sure we do anticipate that to proceed.”(This story refiles to repair typo in headline)
