Norman North (9-2) defeated Edmond North (3-8) 30-17 in the first round of the Oklahoma 6A-I playoffs on Friday evening at Harve Collins Stadium in Norman. 

Next, the Timberwolves face Owasso (8-2) in the quarterfinals on the road next Friday at 7 p.m. The Rams are ranked as the No. 9 team in Oklahoma by Sports Illustrated.

Here are the highlights and details from the game: 

• This is Norman North’s first playoff win since defeating Norman High 42-34 on Nov. 13, 2020 in the first round and the second playoff win under coach Justin Jones.

• Junior quarterback Owen Eshelman scored four total touchdowns in the game, three rushing and one passing. The three rushing touchdowns are the most he’s had in a game this season.

• Senior defensive back Curtis Miller snagged two interceptions, his second game with multiple interceptions this season. Miller has five interceptions this season.

• Senior wide receiver Zain Prater caught his seventh touchdown of the season with 9:33 in the second quarter.

• Junior defensive lineman Garrison Utley recorded a sack while senior defensive lineman Finn Smith recovered a fumble after a botched handoff from Edmond North in the fourth quarter.

• After trailing 14-10 with 0:26 in the third quarter, Norman North outscored Edmond North 20-3 in the fourth quarter.
