Norman High falls 59-20 to Bixby in playoff quarterfinals | Sports

Norman High (5-7) was eliminated by Bixby (11-0) 59-20 in the quarterfinals of the Oklahoma 6A-I playoffs on Friday evening.

The Spartans started fast, leading 30-0 at the end of the first quarter. A two-yard rushing touchdown was scored by Bixby’s Jett Turner with 9:31 in the first, followed by two receiving touchdowns by wide receivers Blake Hogshooter and Yetxiel Perez-Gilbes later in the quarter.

Bixby also scored a special teams touchdown in the first with a 66-yard punt return from wide receiver Kordell Gouldsby. Quarterback Cooper Parker and tight end Cord Nolan caught two-point conversions in the quarter.

Bixby scored its remaining points in the 2nd quarter. Gouldsby added two more touchdowns with receiving scores, while two more touchdown catches were recorded by wide receiver Garrett Vaughn and Nolan. Nolan also added two more two-point conversions.

The Tigers scored their first points with 9:13 in the third quarter on a 22-yard rushing score from sophomore quarterback Crew Noles. Norman High added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter with two four-yard receiving scores from senior wide receiver Port Hartsock and senior safety/wide receiver Dax Noles.

The Tigers’ 5-7 record is their best finish since going 7-4 in 2019.
