Storm spikers sweep NCCS, Bombers fall | News, Sports, Jobs

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake volleyball team closed out the season with a 3-0 sweep over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on Thursday. The Red Storm won by scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-5.

Saranac Lake was led by Emily Gay, who recorded a team-high 30 points and 17 aces. Gay also chipped in four assists, two digs and one kill.

Gracen Foster had a solid outing with 13 points, nine aces, two digs, one assist and one kill. Lexie Donaldson contributed with 13 points, four aces, three digs, two assists and one kill.

The Red Storm finished the season with a 10-6 record. The team is slated to host the winner of the Section VII, Class C quarterfinal match between Lake Placid and Northeastern Clinton at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Plattsburgh 3, Lake Placid 0

The Lake Placid volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the Plattsburgh Hornets on Thursday, falling by scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-15.

Nadia Phillip paced the Blue Bombers with 14 kills, nine digs, five points, two aces and one block.

Norah Galvin was the team’s top setter with 14 assists. Galvin also contributed with four digs, three points and one ace. Sydney Garrison and Haileigh LaMare chipped in with six digs each for Lake Placid.

The Blue Bombers will host Northeastern Clinton in the Section VII, Class C quarterfinal round at 6 p.m., Monday. Lake Placid, which finished the regular season with a 4-14 record, swept the Cougars twice this season.
